BevFEST
8:25pm Sunday 1st July 2012 in News
How often have you heard (or said yourself) “oh there’s nothing to do in Bevendean!”
Well, nowadays that couldn’t be further from the truth. There may not be many shops here but there is so much going on and if there isn’t something that you like the sound of then you can always start it up yourself. That’s what a group of us thought and so now we have BevFest. Who would have thought that we could have a music festival here in Bevendean? Well on 8th September this year BevFest is happening. And hopefully when everyone has so much fun they can’t imagine life without it – it will be happening every year. On the surface it is all about having fun, listening to a band or two, eating a burger, having a beer or a Pimms, playing a bit of footie and getting together in the sun. But it is going to be so much more than that. It is a chance for us all to get together and explore not only what positive things are going on in Bevendean already but also what else is possible. We’ve tried to think of everything but if there is something you would like to add then please come along to our meetings or phone us or send us an email.
So what is BevFest?
It is a one day music and arts festival being organised by Bevendean residents and being held on the School Field on the 8th September 2012 from 2-8pm. The theme is Creativity in the Community. There is going to be a stage with as many local performers as we can squeeze on:- Comedians, Singers, Dancers, Street dance crews, Hip Hop Artists, Bands, Choirs— There is a beer and Pimms tent for the adults.—Refreshments for everyone— Food – from a BBQ to a salad bar—Local artists will be displaying their art—A graffiti artist will be painting live at the festival—There will be a sports area with a football tournament and cricket matches and Spots and Stripes games for all the family. A group of free runners will show us what they can do—Spiral, a local charity will be broadcasting the festival live on their internet-based radio station—And this is just what is confirmed. Look out for further acts as they are confirmed……….
