When I saw the advertisement for The Impossible, I didn’t think it would be any good, but I think it’s one of the best films ever made.
It’s a true story about a family that go to Thailand on holiday together. On the morning of December 26th they're laying by the pool when they are struck by a tsunami.

According to the research I have done, there are more than 3.2 million students across the world, who are victims of bullying each year. Less than half of these incidents are reported and even less are sorted out. 70 percent of young people see bullying happening online and report it, but is it enough? 1 out of 4 kids get bullied more than once.

The Bevy

Firstly we have some important news!
We have extended our share issue until 30th April.
We have over 370 members and raised £35,320 in cash since our launch. A fantastic achievement - BUT not nearly enough to start building yet.
We deliberately kept shares cheap to be inclusive but if you can afford more please do.
Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme
Because we are eligible for this amazing tax incentive anyone who is a tax payer spending a £100 or more on shares can apply for HALF of their investment back through the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme. Contact us for more details.
Share Certificates
Some people have asked why they have bought shares but received nothing in the post.
We will not issue certificates until we have enough money in the bank to start our project. This money is kept in a separate bank account and if the pub does not open people will receive a full refund (you can read about our rules and regulations in our prospectus).
Investors
We have been targeting larger investors and supportive businesses to get them on board. If you know anyone who might be interested get in touch with us!
Door Knocking
Fancy being part of our street team, talking to the residents of Moulsecoomb, Bevendean and Bates to tell them what they would be missing if we don’t make The Bevy a reality!
Events
The Bevy are running one off events, check out our facebook The Bevendean Coopertive Pub or our web page www.thebevy.co.uk for updates.
And finally
‘The Bevy’ is really so much more than a pub – it’s a sustainable building and a self- financing project, offering jobs, training and volunteer opportunities to all local people.
A community ‘hub’ where people can meet, eat, drink and relax and buck the trend of 18 pubs a week closing.
If we pull this off, it will be a beacon of what can be achieved by people doing it for themselves and turning passion into action.
So tell all your family, friends and colleagues to buy some shares and invest in something unique –together we can make The Bevendean Community Pub a reality.
KEMPTOWN MP SHOWS SUPPORT FOR MOULSECOOMB COMMUNITY PUB
Simon Kirby, Member of Parliament for Brighton Kemptown & Peacehaven, has shown his support for “The Bevy” Community Pub in Moulsecoomb by buying shares in the pub to help campaigners reach their fundraising total. Simon said: “I know what a valuable role pubs can play as a hub for the local community and that is why I am keen to support this campaign. I am aware of the issues surrounding the old pub and that is why it is so important that this initiative remains community focused, which from discussions I have had with those involved, I am pleased to see it is doing.”
Local residents are trying to create a place to eat, meet, drink, study and relax in the heart of the community. Plans include a pub / cafe, community kitchen, play areas and vegetable gardens.
Simon, who before becoming an MP owned a number of pubs in the City added: “As someone with experience in this industry I have been happy to assist the campaign group as they try and make their plans a reality.”
Simon concluded: “I would encourage anyone who wishes to support this worthwhile endeavour to donate. Shares in the pub can be purchased here http://www.thebevy.co.uk/shares.
