A centre for young people has received a £1,000 boost.

Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd teamed up with construction company Williams Southern to celebrate the reopening on the new store on Western Road, Brighton.

The two firms chose the Impact Initiatives “Young Peoples Centre (YPC) in Ship Street, Brighton to benefit from the donation.

The YPC, which celebrates its 30th year in operation this year, is housed in one of Brighton’s oldest buildings. The £1,000 donation will help to pay for new flooring and carpet for the entrance of the drop-in centre.

The supermarket giant has 10 stores in the city.

Richard Williams, operations director at Williams Southern said: “We are delighted to join Sainsbury’s in donating our services to the Young People’s Centre in Brighton as part of Sainsbury’s Community Spirit Initiative. The donation is given in connection with the re-launch at the Sainsbury’s Local store at Western Road, Brighton after completion of their recent refurbishment works and we hope that the new flooring will help towards the centre’s improvements of their premises”.
