A group of women became watersport savvy at ladies watersports day in Hove.

Lagoon Watersports hosted the event at Hove Lagoon where windsurfing, wakeboarding and stand-up paddle boarding coaching was offered.

The women also participated in a stand-up paddleboard yoga class and a paddleboard race at the end of the day.

Organiser Lucy McCormick said: “It’s been a really good day and they like being with other women so they’re all in the same boat with people who haven’t done it before.”

Each coaching session lasted an hour and a half and included one-to-one teaching from experienced watersports coaches.

Project manager Samantha Stubbington, 42 from Hove, has said the instructors were brilliant in each session.

She said: “They got us all up doing it and quite professionally able to do the sport and I think that’s really good and nice teamwork as well.”

Watersports instructor Harriet Wilson, 20 from Brighton, has said the coaching sessions focused on getting the women’s confidence up in each sport.

She said: “I think it’s really positive to get people involved who might not otherwise try it out.”

Ladies watersports day is now in its fourth year as it has become a popular event in Hove.

Lagoon Watersports host the event twice a year and paddleboard yoga classes are offered every Tuesday night in the summer.

Yoga teacher Gerry Broom, 36 from Brighton, said: “Whenever we can over the winter, we do events indoors to keep it going as much as possible.
