Hove's little gems

Hove opens its doors, every weekend during the May festival, to display a variety of local artists’ work. Wandering down the wide leafy streets, these open houses are little gems dotted around the city.

One house which was particularly memorable, exhibited the artwork of Eve Poland and Elizabeth O’Donnell at 26 The Drive.

The bright inviting house is divided by two rooms with the two, very different artists’ work; ranging from screen prints and beautiful paintings to mix media collages.

Eve Poland’s pieces are vivid, captivating images of feline women and striking black cat screen prints. Running through the all images is a naughty, cheeky streak.

In a complimentary comparison, Elizabeth O’Donnell’s work features dark fairytale paintings, creeping shadowy trees and landscapes of blues.

There are many beautiful things to discover, spending an afternoon exploring the intimate open houses of Hove.
