Hangleton Bottom could soon be a step closer to being turned into a sorting centre for rubbish.
A meeting takes place next month when councillors will discuss the future of the site which is west of the Hangleton link road and just south of the A27 Brighton bypass.
It is currently used as a horse paddock and as a temporary unofficial stop for travellers.
It is in an area of outstanding natural beauty but not within the boundary of the proposed South Downs National Park.
Brighton and Hove City Council’s waste plan has earmarked Hangleton Bottom for a materials recovery or waste transfer station. Recyclable rubbish would be sorted there before being sent to a processing plant.
Councillors will debate the site’s future at a meeting on October 16.
