The Hangleton and Knoll Festival is now in its final week and it seems a good time to reflect on how it has gone so far.

The Festival Committee had to be completely replaced this year after the old committee sadly stood down, and after a busy 8 months the all-new committee have brought us 4 weeks of very varied events, from the excitement and entertainment of the Medieval Festival and children’s parade back in June, and the weekly children’s craft drop-ins at Knoll Park, to the Children’s Trapeze workshops, the historical talk from local historian Trevor Povey and the Bingo and Karaoke night at St Richards!

In total 18 events were organised for this year’s festival, and 10 different local community groups participated in organising or running events alongside the Festival committee.

Festival Secretary, Caroline Shears told me “The committee have found the experience a huge learning curve, but are proud of what we have achieved in our first year, and are already making plans for making next year’s festival even bigger and better”

The final week of the festival will bring us a Children’s Disco on Wednesday 8th July, the final Children’s Craft Drop-in on Friday the 10th and the finale event, the Knoll Park ‘Nature’ themed activity day on Sunday the 12th.

The Committee are eager for new ideas and feedback, so would love to hear from anybody who has attended any of this year’s events or anybody who lives in the area and has thoughts about what they would like to see take place during next year’s festival – or maybe even to join the organising committee or volunteer to help!
