The Hangleton and Knoll Festival continued this week with 2 children’s events.

The first, ‘Make and Munch’ was a foodie activity for under 5’s, where the children had the opportunity to create their own lunch of cheese straws, pizza, trifle and a smoothie.

The event at St Richard’s Community Centre, organised by Sunbeams Toddler Group, in place of their usual Wednesday morning session, attracted around 18 toddlers with the parents/carers, and everyone seemed to have a fun time with some messy cooking and then sitting down to lunch together.

Parent’s comments included ‘Good idea, children and adults enjoyed the variety of food’, ‘Great! Nice for parents to sit down and interact with children’ and ‘So much thought has gone into the event, with all ages catered for.’ Sunbeams have organised another children’s event as part of the festival, to take place on Wednesday 2nd June, during half term. The event, a sponsored walk to raise funds for the Festival will go from Greenleas to Knoll Park, with children’s TV characters tosspot along the way. More information can be found on the festival website or at Hangleton Library.

The other event to take place this week was the first of 4 drop-in craft workshops for children on Wednesday afternoons at the Pavilion Café in Knoll Park.

This week’s crafts included hand printed lions, windsocks and dangly hot-air balloons, as well as materials to do your own drawings/paintings. Free refreshments were provided for parents and children and organisers were very happy with the turn-out, with 15 children in attendance early on in the session, and more dropping in later.

Coming up this week are the Wednesday children’s Craft Drop-In, pop in any time between 3pm and 5pm for a variety of crafts, and the Children’s Disco, run by Fun 4 Kids on behalf of the Festival in place of their usual Friday afternoon session. With a disco provided by Ace-Tech Leisure, this is a fun event for under-elevens.
