Camelford Arms Licensing Panel Police Objection
4:58pm Monday 9th April 2012 in News
By Roy Pennington, community correspondent
On Tuesday April 10th, the Licensing Panel is due to decide if the Police’s objection to a street party run by the Camelford Arms on the day of Brighton Marathon on April 15th is sufficient to stop the party.
The Panel hearing is due to take place in Hove Town Hall at 10 am. The Police objection is based to the fact that there has been no application for a road closure. The likelihood of increased crime and disorder is higher if there is no formal road closure and the Police have to resolve disputes.
On the day there will be many road closures. Camelford Street is one-way north, accessed from Madeira Drive which will be closed most of the time anyway. Camelford Arms is sponsoring a team of runners for charity.
On Monday, 16th April the Licensing Panel will be also considering a variation in hours for the pub.
