Patcham Junior School is enjoying yet another sporting success as the Year Six Football team faces Westdean Primary School in the final of the Fitzgerald Cup today.
This follows a string of recent victories on the sports field. Last term, the Year Six boys also climbed to the final of the Brighton & Hove Baker Cup and the Year Five Football team won the Varndean Sixth Form challenge last week. But Patcham’s prowess is not limited just to football.
The Year Five boys showed endurance and swiped first place at the Brighton & Hove Primary Schools Cross Country competition last week. From the same team, Archie Davis did Patcham Juniors proud again when he won the Sussex Schools Cross Country event in Stanmer Park.
“Success breeds success,” said Mr Ray Carter, the Deputy Head. “The kids see the older ones lifting shields and trophies in assembly and want to do it too. That’s why we sign up for every activity or sport possible; so that the pupils here can get all the opportunities they can.”
