Police need help identifying two men after attempted burglary

Two men are being sought after by Sussex police in association with an attempted burglary at a house in Patcham last April.

One of the men approached an elderly woman’s house in Ladies Mile Road on 1 April, asking for money in return for work he completed in her garden. No such work had been carried out.

The man left without any money but the woman was left shaken by the event.

On 7 April, another male visited the same address but the woman did not open the door.

Police are treating both incidents as suspicious and would like to speak to anyone who saw anything questionable during this period.

Detective Constable Biggs said: “We would like to remind people to be extra vigilant of their own and neighbour’s homes.

“Anyone turning up on their doorstep unplanned should be viewed as suspicious until they prove otherwise.

“If in doubt, do not open the door and call the company they claim to work for or the police.”

Anyone with information on the identity of the men should contact 0845 60 70 999, quoting serial 732 of ¼.
