RSPCA makes plea for cat food

Patcham RSPCA is currently appealing for wet cat food after the snow last Christmas left well-wishing donators unable to reach the centre.

Its best period for collecting pet food donations, the bad Christmas weather has had a far-reaching effect on the many cats at the re-homing centre in London Road.

Manageress Jenny Wells said: “We are especially short on kitten food and wet food such as sachets or tins in jelly.”

Those wishing to donate pet food can visit the RSPCA Animal Shelter in London Road, Patcham BN1 8ZH.

The centre is also planning some upcoming fundraising events for the RSPCA.

Oscar Petfoods Fun Day will take place on Saturday, March 26 from 10am to 4pm, at Henfield Village Hall, and will have stalls, dog food samples, advice on various topics such as dog nutrition, and a dog groomer and behaviourist.

Admission is free, dogs are welcome to come along, and there are also a range of activities for children to participate in.

The RSPCA is also holding a sponsored dog walk from the Patcham centre to Devil’s Dyke and back on Sunday, April 17.

The round trip consists of eight miles and help can also be arranged for those who are limited in some way, such as only completing the walk one way, or being taken to and from the centre.

The walk begins at 11, and those interested in participating can pick up a sponsor form from the centre.

The shelter is open every day except Mondays, from 10.30am to 4pm.
