Patcham United supporters enjoyed the sun as the under 6's teams played in their first ever tournament at Horsdean Park on Sunday.

The under 6’s played against teams from Brighton, Eastbourne, Burgess Hill and the rest of Sussex.

Seventeen teams competed in Sunday’s games, which comprised one of a series of youth tournaments organised by Chris Dolan. Sunday's fixture had the most attendees to date.

Chris said: “It’s a chance for the managers and the teams to meet for what is the first time for lots of them.”

Nick Poyner, the chairman of Patcham United, said that it was a chance for children from different schools to meet each other, and that the events are “all about playing football”.

There was a great atmosphere as Patcham parents cheered on the newest teams of the tournaments.

Mr. Poyner said: “They’re doing very well for new teams, and they seem to be enjoying themselves.”

Although the under 6’s matches were non-competitive, other tournaments have been very successful so far, with the Hove Park Colts winning the under 9’s tournament, and Woodingdean Youths winning the under 10’s.
