A 10-year old diabolo-master from Brighton has made it to the final of a national talent competition.

Oscar Dudley is up for a Golden Skillie in the Best Trick category of Nickelodeon’s Fruit Shoot Skills Award, after his diabolo videos were found on YouTube by the competition organisers.

Patcham Junior School pupil Oscar said: “I’m feeling really excited but overwhelmed at the fact they found me on YouTube.”

Oscar first started to use the juggling instrument at around seven years old, after receiving one as a present, and swapping tips with friends at school, and has since performed tricks in talent assemblies.

He also made it to the finals of a competition at the British Juggling Convention in Southend-on-Sea in April, and auditioned for this year’s Britain’s Got Talent.

Karen Dudley, Oscar’s mother, said: “This will be the best, biggest thing that he’s done so far.”

The awards ceremony will be held in the ICC in Birmingham on 21st July, where Oscar will be showing off his skills live on stage.

Karen said that he was keen to get up on stage, and that he had been busy practising for the ceremony.

Oscar said: “It would mean the world to me to win. I’ve always wanted to be recognised for something I really like doing.”

Other contestants in his category include a snowboarder, a magician and a scooter stuntman.
