The councils of both Brighton & Hove and Lewes are to be commended for the promptness of their grass cutting contractors this spring. Most verges seem to have been cut over the past week or so - week ending 23rd April. After the recent news that the owner of Saltdean Lido wishes to close the pool, and the surge of support on the main Argus Website and Facebook, a group of local residents have started an unprecedented campaign. On Sunday, 28th March at 1.30 then at 3.30 two packed audiences totalling 400 people attended mass meetings. Several people were turned away.

Furor rages over the redevelopment plans for Saltdean Lido. While both sides - owner and action group - have some valid points, surely we don't want another 'city living by the sea' housing development replacing the Grade II listed lido.

It was quite some time ago - perhaps a year - that Google's Street Cameras were seen in the area. There was a lot in the press at the time about issues of invasion of privacy. Now the Street View system is live for most of Saltdean.

On December 9, the Saltdean Residents Association (SRA) persuaded Brighton and Hove City Cabinet to undertake a coordinated survey to see what the people of Saltdean think about unifying within one local authority.

The Saltdean Residents Association Christmas Fair at the Community Centre on Saturday 14th November was a great success with the best attendance ever. Over £750 was raised despite the recession and the weather. A quarter of this will be donated to the Sussex Air Ambulance.
