Witches, ghosts, devils and vampires were out in force at two Halloween parties held by the Save Saltdean Lido Campaign on Saturday 29 October.

Some 125 children and their families attended a party in the afternoon with disco, spooky games, face painting and other activities. A Halloween-themed event for adults took place in the evening.

The parties were held in the old play barn at the Saltdean Tavern Pub, which was decorated with a Halloween theme by the Campaign committee.

Rebecca Crook, Saltdean Lido Campaign Chairperson, said: “Both events were put on to raise awareness of the campaign and engage with the local community. Feedback was great, particularly from the children who loved the party. We plan to run more children’s parties for Halloween next year to ensure more youngsters get to attend.”

The Saltdean Lido Campaign team are getting a reputation for putting on good events.

Their Community Fun Day in the Oval Park on 4 June 2011 won the award for Community Event of the Year in the recent Argus Achievement Awards. Having attracted more than 5,000 visitors during the day and 500 to an evening concert, the Campaign intends to make the Fun Day an annual event.
