With the start of lighter evenings and the summer approaching Seaford police are urging parents to warn children of the dangers of fire and arson.
Children and young people are believed to be responsible for more than two thirds of deliberate fires dealt with by the fire service.
Fires are started in all sorts of areas,including rubbish bins, grassland, parks and even homes.
The penalty for arson with intent to endanger life is up to 14 years in prison, and up to 7 years for arson with intent to cause criminal damage.
Deliberate anti-social fire setting that doesn't endanger life or cause criminal damage can lead to an asbo or community service.
