Lewes District Council’s community safety initiative Quality Streets will be coming to Clinton Place in Seaford on Tuesday, February 22.

The event takes place between 10am and 5pm and gives residents the opportunity to discuss relevant community issues with representatives from local authorities.

Among the attendees on the day will be officers from the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service who will be calling door to door and advising about fire safety, as well as fitting smoke alarms.

Police staff members and officers from the council will also be on hand to listen to any issues or concerns that residents may have.

Seaford Police Neighbourhood Sergeant Chris Veale believes that the event provides residents and authorities alike with an excellent opportunity to meet and interact over issues at the heart of the community.

He said: “Quality Streets brings together all of the organizations who are responsible for community safety into one day of action.

“We will have a number of information stalls and officers will be visiting shops and homes around the ward to establish the issues that cause concern.”

The Quality Streets event takes place during half term so it also gives young people in the community a chance to take part, with staff from the Youth Development Service holding an art workshop focusing on crime prevention.
