Gardening goes down a bomb at Whitehawk allotments

Harvest Brighton & Hove, a project which aims to help people produce more food in the city, is organising a seedbomb workshop on March 24 at East Brighton Park cafe, off Wilson Avenue. The event will take place following the Sheepcote Valley Healthwalk which starts at 10:15 from the cafe. A seed bomb is a small ball which contains everything you need to grow a plant. Participants will learn how to make seed bombs to take home ready to plant later in the year.

And on April 10 and 24 at Whitehawk Hill Allotments, Ben Wensley and Jacob Nowinski from the Whitehawk Community Food Project will present a beginners’ guide to handling a large plot. The idea is to introduce the basics of growing fruit and veg organically focusing on disease prevention, soil health and water conservation.

On April 10 and 17 Sara Padhiar-Tutton will teach beginners how to grow veg in a small space. The course, at Cravenvale Allotments in Whitehawk, will demonstrate how to produce a range of good crops even if you only have a garden or small allotment to grow in.
