Graffiti is a soul-less form of art

10:32am Tuesday 20th March 2007

I write in reference to the excellent feature in which you explained the difference between random walldefacing ("tagging") and genuine graffiti (The Argus, March 14).

The latter may be cleverly executed, although "slick" would be the word I'd use, but the end result is overbearingly ugly and soul-less.

It is crude and garish, like a blown-up version of American comic-book art.

Above all, it is alien - it just does not fit in with the civilised ambience of an English town, certainly not an elegant one such as Brighton.
