University welcomes decision
A spokesman for the University of Brighton, whose Falmer campus will be neighbour to the new stadium, said: "We welcome the fact that after a long and protracted process a decision has been made in relation to the stadium. We shall now be embarking on discussions with the club about a timetable for developing the programme of work for the stadium."

Well done the the university for having the sense to recognise what benefits this will bring, not only to the footballing community, but also to education. BHA & Brighton University will become a beacon in the study of sporting science.

Great to see a "joined up" approach for once. This will also benefit the university as they see the tatty old 1960's buildings replaced with state of the art learning facilities.
It's terrific news for both as Rob stated.
Looking at the bigger picture, with the Stadium, the Ice Arena (ice hockey, ice skating, basketball) & handing back Withdean Stadium to athletics (in a better condition by the way), finally Brighton & Hove will have some sproting facilities to be proud of!!
The population can't just operate on the arts alone & active sports participation (often encouraged through watching) will help create "healthy minds & bodies".
My kids & thousands of others will now enjoy benefits I have never had in Brighton & Hove.

I made a big fool of myself with a very late and childish arguement to stop Falmer Stadium. Inow realise what a total fool I am. Sorry all of Sussex. I now realise I should have kept my big mouth shut.

There will also be a chance for students to work on matchdays at events (stewards, ground staff, catering). I worked as a steward when I was at University and £30 ever other week, plus chances for other earnings, really helped me out.
This development will benefit a far greater amount of people than the small few that think it will harm them.
