Police were called to a massage parlour after a woman jumped from a first floor window.
The unnamed female called police and told them people had broken into the property.
When officers arrived they searched Swallows Massage Parlour on Coombe Terrace, Lewes Road, Brighton and found there were no other people present.
There had been no signs of a disturbance.
She had suffered a fractured jaw after jumping from the window.
Officers were unable to speak to the woman in relation to the call until later in the day because of her "not being in a fit state to answer questions."
A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: "The woman is ill and being treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital for a fractured jaw.
"We are not treating the incident as suspicious."
