Hundreds of people of all ages donned their pyjamas and went for a walk to raise money for charity.

The walkers were joined by former EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer, who went along with her children and nephews for the event at Stanmer Park in Brighton yesterday.

The PJ 5K sponsored walk was one of 12 taking place around the country as part of the children's cancer charity CLIC Sargent's Yummy Mummy Week.

During the week, mothers are encouraged to raise money for the charity.

This was the first year the national charity, which raises funds for children with cancer, has held the event in Brighton and organisers are hoping to return again next year.

Younger children were able to walk or toddle a shorter 1km course while others could either run or walk the whole 5km distance.

Music, stalls and other entertainments were provided around the course with many people bringing along a picnic to enjoy after their walk.

The charity funds a nurse who specialises in children's cancer at the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital in Brighton and all money raised will help boost this and other services for children suffering from cancer in Sussex.

It is hoped the event will raise around £15,000.
