Police have named the cyclist who was killed on the A24 at Ashington yesterday.
Keith Harmer, 49, of Franklands Close, Worthing, was taken to hospital by helicopter in London after the crash which happened at about 10.40am.
He was knocked off his bike when he was overtaken by a Mercedes lorry.
The road was closed for several hours.
Sergeant Paul Jones from the Haywards Heath road policing unit said: "As a result of the helicopter being used, both carriageways of the A24 had to be shut. The whole of the northbound and one lane of the southbound carriageways were reopened as soon as the helicopter departed.
"I am anxious to trace anyone who either saw the collision or the cyclist beforehand and would ask that they call us on 0845 6070999 quoting Operation Seahorse."
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 0845 6070999.
