More than 50 businesses and homes have been left without power today after a fault at a substation.
Parts of London Road, Brighton, have been without power since about 5am and many shops, including Woolworths, have had to close for the day.
The Branch Tavern pub has seen its custom hit because of the power cut.
Landlady Tanya Deeley, 35, said: "People have been walking in and then walking straight back out. I can't show the football on the TV and that's my main attraction on a Sunday.
"I've lost a lot of customers. I'm really annoyed because it has taking too long to get something sorted."
A spokesman for energy company EDF said: "We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers. We now have an engineer on site looking at the problem."
He added that gaining access to the substation, located in the open market, had been a problem with engineers unable to find someone with a key to get into the locked site.
