Borough must recover from blip

Eastbourne Borough boss Garry Wilson has warned his players they cannot afford to feel sorry for themselves after blowing the chance to take a firm grip on the title race.

Borough boasted a four-point lead at the top going into the Easter weekend but consecutive defeats has handed the initiative back to Lewes in the battle for automatic promotion.

The Rooks are now just one point behind with a game in hand and Wilson knows how important it is that Borough bounce back at home to Weston-super-Mare on Saturday.

Wilson said: "It is not the best of times to suffer a blip but there is nothing we can do about that. All we can do is pick ourselves up and try to put the pressure back on Lewes."

What do you think?

my brother is a fan of eastbourne and went on saturday, he said they were second everywhere and wondered if they really want to go up, players were simply not good enough. if they had injuries, why have they not gone to the albion as they have in previous years, the two lads at welling gargan and cobbs gave borough a tough time!! they should have been signed for the final push. not sure lewes want it either!

The starting 11 at Welling was stupid, hence the stupid result!
Why have four strikers sitting on the bench and then play out-of-form Tait and half-fit Atkin alongside the dreadful Lovett?
Time that Kember was out of the squad, but Tait, Jenkins and Lovett are no use at this stage.
Wilde needs to be thrown in alongside Ramsay and Nathan Crabb. Time for Garry Wilson to get his side playing football as the defeats against Bromley and Welling would have been hefty had it not been for keeper Hook.
The chance to seal the league title has slipped.

Saw Bromley run circles around Borough. Changes were necessary against Welling but why leave Andy Ballard, Scott Ramsay and Matt Crabb on the bench?
Hope that Adam Wilde comes in to support Andy Atkin and Scott Ramsay.
Why doesn't Garry Wilson bring in players to make the push for promotion? Don't they want to go up?
Shot themselves in the foot, and with the easy run-in for Lewes then Borough look to have blown it big time. Shame as they have been either brilliant or absolute rubbish.
A big win over Weston on Saturday is necessary.

Borough are showing no ambition, they looked exhausted against Bromley.
Lewes have brought in a striker and keeper in their push for the league title, while Borough stick with their injury-prone squad.
What a terrible starting 11 at Welling! Where is Adam Wilde? And why doesn't Nathan Crabb join him upfront?
Good riddance of Rob Kember, like Neil Jenkins and Jay Lovett he is out of his depth!
Andy Ballard, Andy Atkin, Scott Ramsay, Lee Hook and Pat Harding are the only decent players at the moment. The Crabb brothers have to start against Weston, the fans want six goals or more against a hapless side who are 6-1 to win at Priory Lane.
Wilson should pick an attacking team and call back Yemi from Oxford.
Shame to see such poor performances from Borough after such a fantastic season so far. Lewes now have a better chance to take automatic promotion as they have four really easy matches out of their final seven games.
Shame on Wilson's selection at Welling, it may cost Borough the title. And their play-off hopes don't look very promising at the moment as the squad look too tired and goal-shy.

Wilson's tactics against Welling deserved what he got - NOTHING.
Strange team selection today (vs Weston). To trail at half-time was bad news, and to squander the lead to Weston's late goal means that Lewes are very likely to win the league.
Can't see Borough winning again all season at this rate. Five league matches remain, and Wilson has to shake up the team AND GET THEM SCORING GOALS.
Five wins out of five may still not be enough to take automatic promotion. Fingers crossed.
Confidence is at a season's all-time low.
Wilson can test NEW TACTICS at the Dripping Pan on Tuesday, when Borough tackle Crawley Town.
Any more injuries and this will be a shameful finish for Borough. To gain one point out of nine has gifted Lewes the title.
Bring back Yemi to partner the Crabb brothers and Adam Wilde. Blow the expense, because whatever happens this term a HUGE CLEAROUT is overdue.
The Red Mean Machine has been rocked, how can Wilson start games without Ballard and Wilde?

Our season has fallen apart, with confidence low.
Keeper Lee Hook and striker Andy Atkin had been outstanding until recently. But with those two playing badly we look very ordinary. Andy Ballard is the sole exception.
We almost lost to big bruising Weston today (Sat), and lost players to some harsh tackles.
At least these injuries will force Wilson to rethink his squad for the final five league matches. Crabb brothers and Atkin upfront with Wilde and Harding on the wings should reap rewards.
Hook is playing badly, pleased to see Jenkins and Kember missing from squad as they are hopeless at the moment.
Ballard, Armstrong and Pullan should hold the side together. Lovett has to be dropped, his legs can't take the strain.
Five matches left, only five wins will do. Come on Borough, your fans are behind you. How terrible can you get?
This is more than a blip with one point out of nine!!!
Red faces all round, Borough must bounce back in Tuesday's Sussex Cup semi against Crawley.
