A man fraudulently claimed council tax and housing benefits - while working as a benefits advisor.
Kennedy Alonge did not declare he was working as a temporary advisor for two London local authorities when he and his wife Victoria applied for housing benefit and council tax relief from Brighton and Hove City Council.
The couple, from Ventnor Villas, Hove, both pleaded guilty to failing to give the full details of their work in two applications made in February and May last year.
In total they claimed £1,842 in housing benefit and £173 in council tax benefit between February 19 and May 20 to which they were not entitled.
However they told the court it had been an 'oversight' rather than a deliberate attempt to deceive.
Their application listed Mrs Alonge's administration job with Brighton and Hove City Council but it failed to mention Mr Alonge's agency work.
