The Mayor of Brighton and Hove Coun Denise Cobb marked an important milestone in the construction of Azure, a landmark development of new homes in Rottingdean, when she attended its topping out ceremony.

Welcomed by directors of Generator Developments, the developer and contractor Allston Construction, Coun Cobb was given a tour of the site and then, according to tradition, placed the last part of concrete to the structural frame at the building’s highest point.

Azure is a collection of nine exclusive new apartments located on the south side of Marine Drive, commanding an impressive sea front position with views of the coast.

The spacious two and three bedroom homes combine stylish interiors, a high quality specification and the best in sustainable construction, designed by award-winning architects Holder Mathias.

The ceremony took place at the highest point of the reinforced concrete frame, standing at over 30 metres above sea level on top of the roof above the penthouses.

Coun Cobb said: “I am delighted to commemorate this key point in the construction of this exceptional new development.

“The apartments are well thought out, providing lots of space and flexibility with fantastic sea views.

“I am sure the new residents will enjoy living in what is a wonderful new addition to the area.”

Paul Isaacs, managing director of Generator Developments said: “It is a great credit to the hard work of our contractor Allston that construction has been progressing so well despite the challenging weather conditions.”

The homes are expected to be complete for occupation this summer.
