Clive Emson catalogued 140 lots and sold land and property worth £18 million at its September sale.

Managing Director James Emson said: “New legislation and constant speculation have done little to dampen the mood throughout Sussex and Surrey with a sale conversion rate just shy of 90 per cent so far this year.

“This year has also, yet again, seen auctions locally and nationally increase their share of the market, proving that the speed and transparency of public auctions is as effective as selling property by private treaty.

“Indeed, many of the fabulous lots we have on offer come from estate agents who value the relationship between both sectors of the industry and how they can complement each other.”

Clive Emson holds eight rounds of auctions each year at five locations from Essex to Cornwall on consecutive days.

The seventh round of Clive Emson’s regional Sussex and Surrey auctions this year takes place at the Hilton Brighton Metropole on Wednesday, November 1 at 11am.

The firm now stages an online auction, complementing the existing live auctions. See www.cliveemson.co.uk/online for details.
