You do have to ask yourself why the private treaty method of sale is still used by so many sellers in the UK when an alternative option is available that simply put, just works!

On Monday 11th April we negotiated a price for a house arranged as 2 flats in Littlehampton. The legal pack was immediately emailed in its entirety to the purchaser’s solicitor whereupon just 2 hours later, the purchaser called me to advise that all was completely satisfactory and arranged to visit my office on the morning of Thursday 14th April to sign and exchange contracts. Something that took place as arranged at 10:30am!

The purchaser was cash and as such there were:

• No survey or valuations issues to contend with

• No delays as often associated with ‘chains’

• No last minute hiccups or renegotiation of the price

Instead it was a very smooth, straight forward, easy and stress free transaction that exchanged contracts on the exact date and time is was supposed to and all within a time frame of less than 72 hours!

Just think about this for a moment insomuch had the same property been bought and sold by the same two parties but via the private treaty method of sale, one thing is for sure, it would absolutely not have exchanged contracts within the time frame it did!
