Millwood Designer Homes’ sponsored charity horse galloped into their Isfield based development Lavender Fields on Thursday 6th July. As part of a major new fundraising campaign by Hospice in the Weald, the vibrant life- size fibreglass horse statue named Pebbles, was unveiled at an event in front of a crowd of guests.

Hospice in the Weald has recently launched their innovative campaign 'Herd of the Hospice', which will see more than 25 large fibreglass horses delivered to various popular locations around Kent and East Sussex, including Tonbridge, where luxury homebuilder Millwood are based. The charity is creating a trail for members of the public to locate and share pictures with the individually designed and decorated horses.

Designed by artist Deborah Charity, Pebbles, Millwood’s sponsored horse features a zebra print striped pattern made from glass pebbles in the company’s signature logo colours, black and silver. The temporary artwork fixture will remain at the Lavender Fields from July and run until September, with the horse then being auctioned off to the highest bidder at an auction event in October.

On Thursday 6th July, guests were taken to the covered horse statue located in the communal gardens at the Manor House, at the centre of the development. Managing Director of Millwood Designer Homes, John Elliott said at the event: “We are delighted to be able to work alongside local businesses and charities, such as Hospice in the Weald, who provide excellent support to local communities. At Millwood, we are extremely passionate about not only building beautiful homes but also building networks and supporting local endeavours to strengthen the communities at our developments.

“We jumped at the opportunity to get involved in the Herd of Hospice campaign by sponsoring a horse of our choice. I believe, the public art installation is a fantastic idea, engaging with a wide range of people and an excellent alternative to more conventional ways of raising money for an extremely worthy cause. We are sure Pebbles will feel right at home at Lavender Fields, surrounded by beautiful countryside and a flourishing community.”

Ben Alonso, Head of Fundraising at Hospice in the Weald said: “We are delighted Millwood have got involved with our fundraising campaign Herd of the Hospice this year. So far, the campaign has been extremely successful with over 25 horses placed all around Kent and Sussex, thanks to local businesses and schools getting fully involved. We are looking forward to starting the trail and ahead to the auction in October 2017.”
