It’s almost time for the unveiling of the highly anticipated i360.

Causing quite a stir with residents and visitors alike, the long metal pole aims to host a glass viewing pod ten times the size of a London Eye capsule, giving a bird’s eye view of the wonderful city and the Sussex coastline.

The vision of the i360 is to give the experience of ‘walking on air’ - a new perspective of the city as opposed to the original view of ‘walking on water’ on the piers looking at the city from the sea.

It’s an exciting concept and with the pod hosting a Sky Bar for the evenings so the view of the city will be a brilliant back drop for a party.

Once the unveiling happens in the summer, it will give Brighton and Hove an edge that it hasn’t had before.

Competing with Paris, London and New York, the new skyline view will be the world’s first vertical cable car and the world’s tallest moving observation tower.

It will draw in more visitors, aiming to bring in 739,000 paying customers a year.

With plenty of restaurants and bars opening up around the base of the viewing pod, it will also give the city an exciting new entertainment area and will take Brighton out of the old English seaside town category into the glitzy modern cities of the world on water.

The affects of the new transformation on the seafront are expected to lift house prices up even further.

The West Pier Trust have commented that this design is the start of a long awaited era transforming the city into the new generation, and further plans to enhance Preston Street are on its way also.

It will lift the whole seafront in terms of trade and hotel stays, and in turn make Brighton and Hove a more desirable place to live.

It is wonderfully exciting to see how the new tower will also inspire a new generation of engineers and architects, create 440 new jobs in hospitality and hold fundraising abseiling events for local charities.

Roll on the summer time.
