Home sellers and buyers are being encouraged to sign up for the nation’s biggest ‘Open House’ event taking place on 1st and 2nd April.

The idea of the event is to speed up the viewing process and sellers who list their property with for Open House could beat the average 66 days it takes to sell a property here in the South East.

Over 29,000 viewings took place during the last campaign in September 2016, organised by Countrywide – which sells more homes than any other agents in the UK, including through Hamptons International Estate Agents which is based in London and the South of the UK.

Open House gives sellers the convenience of being able to show many potential buyers their home over the space of just two days and in some instances generates multiple offers. Equally, buyers wishing to see as many properties on the market can view numerous properties in one weekend – ideal for people moving to a new area or for first time buyers unsure of what they are looking for.

Andrea Ball sold her home through Open House last year and said: “The Open House Event helped the sale greatly and we had an offer as a result of this weekend. The support I had was fantastic as it’s quite an undertaking selling a house no matter how many times you do it. The Open House went well. It certainly worked for me.”

Paul Taggart, Branch Manager at Hamptons International in Brighton and Hove said: “It takes a national average of 11 days to receive a first offer on a property and the Open House Event is a great way to speed up the process by having potentially multiple viewings in a short period of time. All of our estate agents, covering our brands across the UK, are on hand before, during and after the course of the weekend to arrange viewings and give our customers the best opportunity to sell and buy their dream home.”

The estate agency is also offering exclusive mortgage, conveyancing and surveying offers to buyers as part of the Open House campaign. The exclusive two year fixed rate mortgages, in association with one of the UK’s leading mortgage lenders, range from 1.14% to 2.64% for home movers, first-time buyers, remortgages and buy-to-let (purchase and remortgage).

The Open House Event is also open to landlords and tenants wishing to rent properties. This may help landlords to secure a tenant quickly and for tenants to see as many properties to rent as possible over the course of one weekend.
