Festive cheer oozed out of the excited crowd as Ivor Potter performed his tribute to the King of Rock ‘N’ Roll alongside his gifted five-piece band.
With all the sparkle and razzmatazz of a 1970s Vegas show, he lip curled and gyrated through Elvis’s epic songs that so many hold dear, including All Shook Up, Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock, Blue Suede Shoes, Teddy Bear and Suspicious Minds.
Ivor was a reasonable look-a-like, wearing glasses, a white shirt and red flared trousers, changing into the trademark jumpsuit for the second half. The reindeer antlers tucked in his trousers set the tongue-in-cheek tone for the evening.
He dealt with suggestive heckles and underwear thrown by the occasionally rowdy audience with charm, humour and clever banter.
In The Ghetto became a sing-a-long and he walked through the enthusiastic audience during Love Me Tender, receiving hugs and kisses.
An iconic singer like Elvis is difficult to impersonate but Ivor replicated his deep, velvety vocals well. His voice was impressive during American Trilogy. However, at times the band over powered him in the more upbeat numbers.
The party atmosphere never wavered. No doubt the lively crowd partied long after Elvis left the building.
