The Brighton Centre was packed and ready early as nobody wanted to miss popular support act Chas and Dave.

And the cockney duo, complete with their drummer, started the party with their timeless classics like Rabbit and Ain't No Pleasing You.

Then the Quo got straight down to business with their ear bleeding buzzsaw guitars.

They are always much heavier than you would expect. Before Foo Fighters, before even The Ramones, there was the Quo.

They may have calmed down off stage a little these days but there's no stopping them on it.

Songs like Paper Plane add the singalong moments in between the relentless wall of sound.

I loved it when Francis Rossi said "this is a song we did in the 1960s or 1970s or 1980s or 1990s or 2000s I really couldn't tell you".

And it didn't matter.

Their medley with What You're Proposing was great and they finished with the likes of the obligatory Down Down, which somehow turned the night up another gear.

Everyone was on their feet by the time Whatever You Want and Rockin' All Over the World kicked in.

There were young children clapping along with Status Quo veterans still enjoying their heroes.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. See you next year for more of the same - I hope Status Quo.
