Absurd comedy duo Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer are planning a big night out in Brighton.

The pair behind Shooting Stars have promised there will be no apricots, toupes or JLS in their first tour for 20 years.

The duo, who are currently on TV in their new sitcom House of Fools, will appear at the Brighton Centre on December 6 as part of a tour celebrating 25 years in showbusiness.

Vic said: “Destiny has led us to this point in time. Now, finally the diversion of Reeves and Mortimer can be revealed in full extent through a cornucopia of preposterous doggerel etc."

Bob Mortimer added: “Playing in front of a living audience is where it all began for us. Some people feel most alive when they are on fire or in Turkey, but for us the stage is where we thrive. I will ensure that Vic arrives at all dates smartly dressed and unarmed. I promise not to mention football, JLS or apricots during the performances. Should you choose to attend, be warned, I will be not be wearing a toupé.”

The pair began working together in 1990 on madcap variety performance Vic Reeves’ Big Night Out, before creating several sketch shows and launching the career of Matt Lucas on quiz show Shooting Stars.

The pair have been appealing for fans to suggest their favourite characters from the past 25 years to appear in the show.

Bob asked fans on Twitter: “If u want to tell us what songs characters etc you would like to see use #RMTour”.

Tickets go on sale on Friday at 9am.
