The five-piece unleashed hit after hit on their Soul Boys Of The Western World tour with large doses of 1980s nostalgia and a party atmosphere.

The British New Romantic band proved that time does not tame talent; their sheer enjoyment and natural chemistry were undeniable. The delighted audience needed no warming up as they sang along to hits including Chant No 1 (I Don’t Need This Pressure On), Only When You Leave and Communication.

Vocal powerhouse Tony Hadley’s strong voice roared through the venue and produced some spine-tingling moments, especially when accompanied by Steve Norman’s rousing saxophone.

It could be easy to underestimate the Kemp brothers - Gary and Martin (guitar, keyboard and bass) - amid the hysterical screams and swoons of fans, but their talent shone through.

Each member of the band had their moment in the spotlight, including a fun drum and bongo spot from John Keeble and Norman.

Their new material was welcomed but not quite as well received as the classics. The sizzling finale comprised of True, Through The Barricades and Gold.

The audience were clearly ecstatic to witness their teen idols perform with as much passion as they did 30 years ago. Pure gold.
