The Ramones, The Clash, Slaves. The compere was right when he put Slaves next in line in the punk royalty family tree after their breathtaking set at Camp Bestival.

The two piece band were a huge highlight during a fantastic three day event in the grounds of Lulworth Castle in Dorset.

By the time the usual firework display brought proceedings to a close on Sunday night the thousands of visitors to the family friendly festival had enjoyed a variety of acts from children's television star Mr Tumble to dance music giants Underworld, who headlined the last day.

The festival's organisers Rob and Josie Da Bank had again masterminded the perfect mix for all ages.

One minute we were watching a theatrical children's show like the Marvellous Imaginary Menagerie or looking in the Insect Circus Museum in the lower kids' garden and the next we were rocking out to The Buzzcocks, who were fantastic on The Castle Stage.

Then we were eating curry from one of the many food outlets with Bob Geldof singing in the background.

Then the teenagers could rave the night away in the Bollywood tent to the likes of Slipmatt and Rat Pack after their parents had enjoyed a bit of Bill Oddie at the Guardian Literary Institute.

Strange mix eh? But it was the perfect mix.
