The key to a good gig is decent music played well by a band who want to be there - this had all three in abundance.
Callum Burrows - better known for his stage name Saint Raymond - beamed on stage and was flanked by a seriously talented band.
The bassist was everything a bassist should be - strong beard, perfect pigeon-head routine to the beat and a way of holding his guitar you thought only possible with a dislocated elbow.
The lead guitarist's fingers were so fast he could untangle headphones in half a second in the dark and the performance was held together by the drummer.
Debut album Young Blood is good, but Saint Raymond was great live.
Songs were tweaked to make the crowd part of the act, an acoustic session was slotted into the middle of the setlist, fans were given the stories behind the tracks and Burrows even dealt with a screaming superfan who would stop at no length to persuade his hero to have a pint with him.
He could hold the room with his voice alone.
But when the clean vocals met flair on the fretboard it produced something special.
Open-air festivals - these boys are coming for you.
