There is an old Turkish proverb that no road is too long in good company. After spending four months at The State Turkish Conservatoire for Music and Dance in Izmir, Brighton choreographer Ceyda Tanc thought it fitting to put the axiom to dance.

Brighton Fringe: The West Pier, Sussex County Cricket Ground, Hove, May 30

Although it was interesting to see the writer’s characters come to life on stage in Fellow Traveller Theatre Company’s adaptation of Patrick Hamilton’s The West Pier, it was the introductory debate which stayed in the mind.

Brighton Fringe: Opera Naked, Chapel Royal, Brighton, June 1

The title suggested we might be given an interpretation of Opera Buffa but there wasn’t a nude in sight. The four singers instead exposed their souls and expressed feelings about their art.
