The Lovely Brothers, Komedia Studio Bar, Brighton, May 7

Following in the footsteps of Vivian Stanshall and the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, Shoreham’s The Lovely Brothers mix Music Hall with songs about kebabs, Arnold Schwarzenegger and job centres.

A band which proudly displays the fact they were once told to stop singing by Gail Porter because it “sounded terrible” on their website is certainly one to look out for.

And with tales of Python-esque antics between the be-frocked ladies and balaclava-ed gents on stage, including one night when their violinist broke her bow while caning the guitarist’s backside, the intimate environs of the Komedia Studio Bar is certainly perfect for them.

Look out for their debut album We Are Not Amused.

  • Starts 8.30pm, tickets £5/£3.
