1... Electro-Blues Featuring The Cyborgs
Green Door Store, Trafalgar Street Arches, Brighton, Friday, July 12

Electro-Blues is the cousin of the White Mink electro-swing nights that crop up across Brighton and come from the Freshly Squeezed Music stable. For tonight they have enlisted The Cyborgs to play a late-night live show. The Italian multi-instrumental duo play what they describe as “elektrok fused with delta blues”, all while wearing welding masks. Sounds freaky. Also on the bill is Electro-Blues pioneer and Freshly Squeezed boss Nick Hollywood.

2... Concorde2 Present Chester P
Concorde 2, Madeira Drive, Brighton, Friday, July 12

A founding member of Task Force and Skinnyman’s M.U.D. family, Chester P is undoubtedly a stalwart of the UK hip-hop scene. Here he heads up a bill for a night of hip-hop, jungle and reggae also featuring Earl Gateshead, selector for the renowned Trojan Sound System, and reggae DJ Aba Shanti.

3... Norman Jay
Life, King’s Road Arches, Brighton, Saturday, July 13

Rarely are DJs awarded MBEs for their services to music but “rare groove” Norman Jay is a particularly special case. A pioneer of the 1980s warehouse parties and on Kiss FM when it was a pirate radio station, he’s now an elder statesman of the British club scene and a regular on BBC radio. Still maintaining relevancy and holding down spots in “best DJ” lists, expect a wonderfully eclectic set from a British music legend.

The deep-house duo Leftwing And Kody are attempting to establish themselves in the house scene and are aiming to make 2013 a break-through year. 5... Dirty Dance Klub presents Kim Ann Foxman

Before joining and subsequently going her separate ways from New York disco band Hercules And The Love Affair, Foxman was an established DJ in the house scene. On the production side she recently put out a remix of The xx’s Sunset to critical acclaim and is working with genre queen Maya Jane Coles.
