A revered club that has hosted some of the world’s biggest DJs is set for a new makeover.

German techno duo Pan-Pot will help celebrate the launch of The Arch, previously known as The Zap Club, Digital and more recently Coliseum, in Kings Road arches, Brighton.

The likes of Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox, Sven Vath and Paul Oakenfold have all graced the club over the years.

Chart-topping rapper Tinie Tempah will perform midweek after the opening weekend on March 7.

The owners are hoping to attract the same calibre of performers thanks to a new state-of-the-art sound system.

Club boss Sammy Verghese said: “We’re willing to lay our necks on the line and go big with this. It’s something we want to do for people who love the music and who want to see quality DJs and quality names that will help regenerate the area and the music scene in Brighton.

“We have handpicked a brand new management team who are hugely passionate about nightclubs and who have a great deal of experience in putting on some of the finest musically led events in our city.

“Their aim is to provide the city with a club designed for locals, by locals with a real sense of community and to provide the region with cutting edge events.”

Other names set to appear on The Arch flyers in coming months include wAFF, Mano le Tough, Justin Martin, Route 94, Ben Pearce, Finnebassen, Heidi, Cuartero, Mark Jenkyns, Dale Howard, Cristoph, Chymera and more.

DJs will be supported by the club’s 12KW Funktion-one Dance Stack soundsystem, featuring twelve 21-inch bass speakers – the same used in Ibiza’s iconic Space club.

Mr Verghese said: “The Arch has been conceptualised with a distinct mission to help restore the Brighton night life scene to once again be the centre point of the UK underground movement.

“With a mandate of pushing the boundaries, coupled with a forward thinking music policy, The Arch is set to welcome the world’s finest promoters, labels, artists and DJ's each and every weekend whilst also playing a key role in the incubation and nurturing of local up and coming talent.”

Tinie Tempah kicks off the midweek schedule on March 10.
