For a new label, the team behind Floorplay aren't short of self-confidence. "Make a note of where you are now," they say about debut promo Camping. "You'll need the date for when the grandkids ask."

Such cocky bluster typifies the confidence of Brighton duo Ben Prok and James Fitch, having spun a prodigious trail to the top of the house hierarchy since meeting in a record store three years ago.

Their bravado has been fuelled by the likes of Roger Sanchez, who was quick to release their records on his label after the pair slipped a CD into the iconic DJ's bag while supporting him in Brighton. Now they're supplementing their own venture with a monthly clubnight at the Coalition.

"We both saw a real gap in the market for a new club night in Brighton," says Ben, who has spent most of the year in Ibiza.

"Everything was a little too serious and moody. We like to see our crowd as our guests, not our punters, and make sure they have such a good time they have no option but to come back next month."

Their attempts to live up to their promise include visuals by "a wicked VJ", homemade décor, a "blinder" light which makes people "tend to go mental" and a 20-strong team of "Floorplay girls" bussed in.

Electro house DJ and new Wildfruit signing Jon Byrne, who describes his style as "basically just stuff that explodes", supports.
