Doc Brown: The Weird Way Round Brighton Dome Corn Exchange, Church Street, Thursday, October 16, 9.30pm, £14, 01273 709709 Tell us about your new show.

“The Weird Way Round is a brand new stand-up show about being terrified of the future, confused by the present and reminiscent of the past. I’m addressing the things that interest me: race, parenthood, sexual politics and faith from my position as something of a social weirdo.”

What were you most scared of as a child?

“The so-called Witching Hour, as described by Roald Dahl, when I was about six. I can’t remember what book it was in, but he wrote about how, if you were still awake at midnight, you could be kidnapped and eaten by some evil monster. Come 11.30pm on an anxious night I used to start properly s****ing myself.”

What makes your blood boil?

“Any room I’m in that is approximately 100°C or 212° F at 1 atmosphere of pressure (sea level).”

What would you be doing if you weren’t a comic?

“Having a fulfilling social life with no crippling loneliness or insecurity, maintaining romantic relationships and a pleasant bodily odor, eating and drinking well within the WHO’s recommendations and seeing my kids. Nightmare.”

Tell us something you’ve never told anyone before...

“In desperation I once peed into a Lucozade bottle. But it wasn’t big enough. The rest is history. Warm smelly history.”
