AS the comedy scene’s attention turns to Edinburgh next month, Sussex’s own international celebration of laughter has just announced its 14th line-up.

Dara O Briain, Nina Conti, Ed Byrne, Tommy Tiernan, Rob Beckett and Storage Wars auctioneer Sean Kelly are among the comics coming to Brighton from Friday, October 9, to Saturday, October 24.

The festival is spread across the Brighton Dome complex in Church Street and New Road, Komedia in Gardner Street, Brighton, and The Old Market, in Upper Market Street, Hove, hoping to attract an audience of up to 30,000 people across 70 shows.

And there is more to come as the organisers cherry pick the best of August’s Edinburgh Fringe for small shows by up-and-coming talent and the ever-popular Saturday night compilation series Best Of The Fest.

Among those making their Brighton Comedy Festival debut in 2015 are co-creator of QI, Blackadder and Spitting Image John Lloyd, with his new show Emperor Of The Prawns, Irish presenter Patrick Kielty who is making his Edinburgh debut this summer, and the unauthorised parody One Man Breaking Bad, which reimagines the cult television show on the Brighton Dome Concert Hall stage.

As with previous years the event kicks off with the Opening Night Gala at Brighton Dome Concert Hall in aid of Sussex Beacon on Friday, October 9. Previous hosts have included Alan Carr and Jo Brand, with Michael McIntyre making a surprise guest appearance last year.

"It’s shaping up to be quite the festival this year with a whole gamut of new and exciting shows, as well as festival favourites," said Heather Ruck, head of programming at Assembly Festival which organises the Brighton Comedy Festival.

"We’ve still got a lot to announce, but we are thrilled with variety that we have on offer so far. From Dara O Briain to Myra Dubois, we are really excited about what we can bring to town."

Regular favourites making the trip down south once more during the 16-day festival include Richard Herring, David O’Doherty, Jason Byrne, Jeremy Hardy and Milton Jones.

Tickets are available online from www.brightoncomedyfestival.com or by calling the Brighton Dome box office on 01273 709709.
