Nick Oliveri is a solo acoustic artist, more punk than you can possibly imagine.

Raw and unforgiving vocals, over one acoustic guitar, entranced an audience which filled this intimate venue.

The one-time bassist played material ranging from original solo songs and covers to a handful of the crowd-pleasing Queens Of The Stone Age songs, for which Oliveri is best known.

The harsh juxtaposition of both meaty vocals and a lonely guitar seemed initially almost alien and occasionally disjointed.

Yet, as the gig continued, the unlikely genius of these elements became clear, and the sound no longer sounded thin or lacking.

However inoffensive the backing sound, Nick Oliveri’s screamingly heavy voice did not disappoint the gently head-banging crowd.

Even more exciting than Oliveri’s voice was his love of the audience, twice taking time to thank the adoring crowd, drinking a shot with a man in the front row and even inviting them to join him on stage. Oliveri did nothing but engage with those there.

This small and brutal show was truly something to behold; Nick Oliveri made every member of the audience feel appreciated, as well as delivering some impressively growly tones and an aggressively strummed guitar.

This strange musical mix was remarkable.
