Fans of the cult 1980 film were in for a treat on Saturday as this Blues Brothers tribute came to town.

Backed by the eight-piece Black Rhino Band, the duo donned the iconic black suits and sunglasses and adopted the mannerisms and vocal stylings of their movie counterparts enthusiastically; their passion for the roles emphasised by the fact they legally changed their names to Jake and Elwood.

An energetic but polished performance of Gimme Some Lovin’ ensured the show opened with a bang, complete with signature dance moves.

Audience participation packed Cab Calloway classic Minnie The Moocher really got the crowd going, many of whom were in fancy dress.

As well as the movie soundtrack, the show also paid homage to the greatest names in soul, rhythm and blues, including James Brown and Stevie Wonder.

The backing singer’s dance moves were occasionally distracting but she more than made up for it by belting out Aretha Franklin’s Think with gusto and serious vocal talent.

The lively finale of Sweet Soul Music, Everybody Needs Somebody and I Can’t Turn You Loose received a standing ovation.

With credible portrayals of timeless characters and rocking live music, Jake and Elwood certainly made the audience shake a tail feather.
