Tuesday’s gig under Brighton station was a transcontinental affair – one that saw four new and exciting bands step out and make a long lasting mark on those gathered.

Local six piece Slum Of Legs kicked off proceedings with a collection of twee pop songs featuring plenty of ramshackle charm before Canadian quartet Thee Ahs temporarily shifted the night into indie pop territory.

The night took a sharp and aggressive turn when fiery troupe Joanna Gruesome arrived on stage.

Blending sugary pop melodies with abrasive and whole hearted noise their set at times had the hallmarks of The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart having a playful dust up with Sonic Youth.

Syacuse-bred five-piece Perfect Pussy closed the night on their Brighton debut.

Firing out a fierce hardcore sound that arrived fast-paced with a thick coat of distortion, their set was a relentless machine gun attack of full-on noise and combusted energy overlaid by tattooed singer Meredith Graves’s screams and yells.
