This polished tribute to the King Of Pop opened with a bang to a cheering audience. Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ was an exciting opener.

The show’s star was Ben Bowman, a long-time fan who revelled in moon-walking in the footsteps of the deceased pop icon. So passionate, in fact, he accidentally flung the microphone out of its stand during Dirty Diana.

Ben’s energetic performance captured the essence and magic of Michael Jackson. Classis hits such as Bad, Beat It, Black Or White and Smooth Criminal proved he was a worthy and charismatic showman.

More than just a lookalike, Ben effectively recreated Jacko’s speech, mannerisms and persona. His vocals were also spot on and he pulled off the signature dance moves with panache.

The show featured a live band and strong choreography, fiercely executed by Ben and his two talented backing dancers. Thriller was a highlight, as the dancers descended into the crowd causing a few screams.

Billie Jean was a fitting final number, with Heal The World providing a sickly-sweet but uplifting encore.

Of course there will only ever be one Michael Jackson, but this show gave the audience a taste of what it may have been like to see the legend live on stage.
